BSCU – Brake and Steering Control Unit
BSCU – Brake and Steering Control Unit controls the brakes and nosewheel steering. Technically, it controls the automatic breaks and retraction gears. BSCU works as signal transmission gets detected from the Captain, rudder pedals or autopilot. Brake and steering controls the electrohydraulic valve system operation. It functions primarily to ensure maximum brake efficiency. Secondary functions include brake temperature monitoring, assessment of brake residual pressure and speed signal reading. It comes with 2 channels – 1 and 2 which connects to specific electrical subsystem. One is an active channel responsible for the system operation while the other is a standby or back0up channel if the other becomes unserviceable.
