GPU - Ground Power Unit
GPU - Ground Power Unit is one of the ground support equipment used to power an aircraft while parking in an airfield. It functions on ground handling and used for testing the aircraft. It can be a trailer mounted mobile GPU or mounted on chassis cabin truck. GPU are used both by military and civilian. GPUs for military purpose use high voltage power. This is to address electrical problems that may arise. However, GPUs for commercial consumption are often low voltage to be more cost-efficient. There are GPUs made from dry cell technology and non-hazardous materials.
