BER – Beyond Economical Repair
BER – Beyond Economical Repair; refers to the state wherein the estimated repair cost of an item or unit exceeds more than 75% of its replacement worth. In terms of logistics, spare parts are either consumable or repairable. When a consumable part is found defective, it may be scrapped or otherwise condemned. In economics, unit parts categorized as repairable are considerable for repair rather than replacing the part. When the cost of spare parts repair reach certain threshold based on level of repair of analysis, it is said to be economically unfavourable hence it's unlikely recommended it will be carefully evaluated whether an item should be replaced or discarded.
